The New England Patriots are dealing with a good amount of turmoil, and with a 1-5 record, their prospects are indeed looking bleak.

Their latest setback came on Sunday at the hands of the Las Vegas Raiders, another team that is struggling, as quarterback Mac Jones turned in another disappointing performance.

Jones’ struggles this season and the Patriots’ ineptness in multiple categories have led to the seemingly untouchable Bill Belichick possibly being on the hot seat.

On Fox Sports 1’s “Speak,” Joy Taylor noted that there is no succession plan for Belichick, who has been New England’s head coach since 2000.

Some feel Belichick has mismanaged the development of Jones, who is in his third pro season, and Taylor opined that Jones isn’t as bad as he has looked lately.

The Patriots are next-to-last in points and 23rd in points given up, and they have failed to score more than 20 points in a single game so far this season.

They’re not completely devoid of talent though — they do have a decent wide receiver in JuJu Smith-Schuster, who had 933 receiving yards for the Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs last season, as well as four-time Pro Bowl linebacker Matt Judon.

New England’s schedule will not get any easier, as they will have to take on the Buffalo Bills this Sunday, which will be followed by a road contest against the Miami Dolphins, the NFL’s best offensive team.

There is a good chance that by the end of the month, they will have a 1-7 record, something they haven’t experienced in decades.
