The NFL recently announced their salary cap for the 2024 season, a number that was a lot higher than expected.

This has caused teams to rethink their decisions ahead of the upcoming year, potentially allowing them to make more moves than they had planned.

Despite the increased cap, teams around the league are still making moves to clear additional space.

As Tom Pelissero recently reported, the Cleveland Browns restructured Denzel Ward’s contract, which cleared nearly $12 million in cap space.

The Browns locked up Ward ahead of the 2022 season, signing him to a contract worth over $100 million.

This contract made him the highest-paid cornerback in league history, and it is clear that he isn’t going anywhere for the foreseeable future.

Since Ward will be with this team for several more seasons, he is likely more than happy to restructure his deal so the Browns can make necessary moves ahead of the 2024 campaign.

The 2023 season turned out a lot better than many Browns fans expected.

After a slow start and another Deshaun Watson injury, it seemed like this team was destined for yet another year where they missed the playoffs.

However, after Joe Flacco came in and saved the day, the Browns snuck into the playoffs, and are looking to build on that momentum next year.

Ward is a massive part of their defense, and if they can add additional pieces around him, the Browns could make some noise in the AFC North race.

Hopefully, they figure things out on offense as well, especially as it pertains to their quarterback situation.
