Baker Mayfield finally seemed to put it all together in 2023, his sixth season in the NFL, and he led the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to the Divisional round of the playoffs after an impressive win in the Wild Card round over the Philadelphia Eagles.

He threw for 4,044 yards and 28 touchdowns in the regular season, and he was rewarded with his first selection to the Pro Bowl.

Buccaneers general manager Jason Licht called the partnership between the team and Mayfield a “perfect marriage” while saying both sides want to remain together, per Rick Stroud.

Until the 2023 season, the consensus around the NFL was that Mayfield was talented, but that his potential had gone untapped.

He spent his first four seasons with the Cleveland Browns after he was the No. 1 pick in 2018.

Mayfield then spent 2022 with the Carolina Panthers and Los Angeles Rams, and it looked like he was down to his last life in the NFL.

But after what he has done over the last six months or so, he may have earned himself a few more lives.

He is about to become a free agent, and he is expected to earn a contract worth over $30 million a year.

The University of Oklahoma product has come a long way in a short amount of time, and it has been very inspiring to see him apparently become the best version of himself.
