On Wednesday, the Buffalo Bills made a move that many people had seen coming for many years: The team finally parted ways with star wide receiver Stefon Diggs.

In an unexpected move after so much movement in the league, the Bills were given a trade offer from the Houston Texans for Diggs and chose to accept it because they felt there was good value in that deal.

Although it is a bit shocking that the Bills actually made the move to part ways with Diggs, the writing seemed to be on the wall for at least the last two years, with the veteran wideout seemingly more and more disgruntled every year despite still being able to put up numbers in Buffalo.

As a result of the trade to send Diggs to the Texans, some believe the Bills’ championship window may officially be closed due to all the important players they have lost during this NFL offseason.

Chris Broussard of FOX Sports argues that the Bills are no longer a Super Bowl title contender in the AFC, even though they may still win the AFC East division title, via “First Things First.”

“They’re no longer a contender,” Broussard said. “A contender for the AFC East? Sure. They could still win the AFC East.”

Although the Bills are now no longer as good on paper, the team has rid itself of a player who has been a massive distraction over the last few years and may have been more trouble than he was worth.

Along with getting rid of a player who might have been a problem in the locker room, the Bills have a chance to do some damage in the upcoming 2024 NFL Draft, which is filled with talented young wide receivers who could flourish catching passes from Allen.
