The Houston Texans have been one of the surprise teams of the 2023 NFL season as they’ve been competitive on a weekly basis.

The Texans managed to pick up their third victory on the year when they took down the New Orleans Saints at home in a gutsy performance.

New Orleans has one of the best defenses in the league, but C.J. Stroud continued to show why he is the leading candidate for NFL Rookie of the Year.

Stroud didn’t have a large passing day as he only recorded 199 yards and two touchdowns, and he finally had his first career interception.

However, Stroud did well to make timely throws when needed and he’s the reason why Houston fans are feeling optimistic about the direction of the franchise.

The Ohio State product looks by far and away the best quarterback prospect in his draft class and people like Colin Cowherd couldn’t help but gush about how much he’s had to overcome already via his Twitter account.

DeMeco Ryans may be a rookie head coach whose specialty is defense, but he and his staff have been able to get Stroud up and running much sooner than expected.

As far as the rest of the offense, Stroud’s primary receivers are Nico Collins, Robert Woods, and Dalton Schultz, all serviceable players but not the star-level players other teams employ.

The Texans have to feel excited and encouraged with what they’ve seen from their rookie quarterback so far and it’ll be fun to watch him continue to grow as the regular season goes on.
