For years, the New York Knicks struggled to become a legitimate competitor despite being in one of the biggest markets.

Many superstars ducked the Knicks during free agency and signed elsewhere due to how the franchise was run in the past.

However, the general consensus about the Knicks is slowly but surely changing, with the duo of Julius Randle and Jalen Brunson leading the team to the 2023 Eastern Conference semifinals.

Former Golden State Warriors GM Bob Myers recently claimed that stars no longer want to avoid the Knicks, via Ian Begley on Twitter.

“There was a time where I felt like people may not have wanted to play in (NYC) & I think that’s changed. I think now, you’re looking at murmurings, hearing things – ‘Hey, what about the Knicks?’” Myers said.

Last season, the Knicks finished the regular season as the fifth seed in the conference with a 47-35 record.

Sure, they were defeated in the second round of the playoffs, but they pushed the Miami Heat to six games.

It was a huge achievement, considering the Knicks have only advanced to the postseason twice in the last 10 years.

The credit goes to the incredible duo of Julius Randle and Jalen Brunson for emerging as leaders of the organization.

But can the Knicks really disrupt the power balance in the Eastern Conference this season?

It’s still theoretically possible, but there’s a very slim chance.

After all, the Milwaukee Bucks and Boston Celtics have improved a lot over the summer and are the favorites to represent the Eastern Conference in the 2024 NBA Finals.
