Even with the level he’s playing at now, LeBron James of the Los Angeles Lakers only has a few more years at most before he retires from the NBA.

James will be in his early forties when he steps down from playing, which means he will still stay quite active in many ways.

Shams Charania appeared on “The Pat McAfee Show” and reiterated James’ plans: he wants to own an NBA team, ideally one that could eventually be established in Las Vegas.

“His goal has always been to own an NBA team and to own that team in Las Vegas,” Charania said.

He added that the team won’t be created for a few more years but James is willing to wait for his chance to own it.

At this point, nearly everyone around the NBA agrees that a new team will be created in Las Vegas within the next few years.

As noted by Charania, there is still some time before that happens but James has been attached to possibly owning a new team for some time now.

He has publicly said that he desires that sort of role and it would also be smart business for the NBA too.

What better way for the league to create excitement around a team than to attach James to it?

Even after he stops playing, he will remain one of the most well-known people on Earth and a sports figure unlike any other.

He could immediately draw a lot more attention to a Las Vegas squad and could be the face of it as it gets up and running.

James is looking ahead to his life after the NBA but, according to Charania, it’ll still be closely linked to the league.
