The Washington Wizards are officially the worst team in the NBA right now with a dreadful 9-52 record.

They have been bad all season long and many players wouldn’t want to be there.

But Kyle Kuzma was actually given the chance to leave the troubled team and he decided to stick around.

Speaking on “Run It Back,” Shams Charania said that Kuzma was part of a package that was put together at the recent NBA trade deadline.

“The Wizards did have an option to trade Kyle Kuzma at the deadline to the Mavericks for Grant Williams and an unprotected first-round pick,” Charania reported.

“Kyle Kuzma decided to stay loyal, he wanted to remain and stick it out with the Wizards,” Charania revealed.

According to Charani’s reporting, the team’s president came to Kuzma with a potential deal that would have sent him down south to the Dallas Mavericks in place of Grant Williams and a first-round draft pick.

Kuzma was given an exit route if he wanted it, but he didn’t.

He instead decided to remain in Washington, sure that he could help turn the team around and get them back on track.

That’s an admirable move from Kuzma, especially because at that point it was already clear that the 2023-24 season was lost for the Wizards.

They aren’t going to reach the Play-In or playoffs this year and are hoping that perhaps next season will be better for them.

But will Kuzma be around next season?

Charania reported that Kuzma might still be a trade asset sent away by the Wizards in the summer.

A few months ago, he was given the option to leave and he decided to not take it.

However, in the offseason, the Wizards might decide they want to blow up the team and not give Kuzma the ability to choose his fate.
