Over the past couple of years, the Phoenix Suns have been extremely aggressive in their intention to put together a title-contending basketball team, with the team doing everything it can to put as much star talent as possible on the floor.

For the most part, the Suns have achieved this by bringing in Kevin Durant and Bradley Beal to play alongside fellow superstar Devin Booker, but due to injuries and chemistry issues, the team hasn’t been able to hit its stride until now.

The Suns are currently the sixth seed in the Western Conference, and if they drop below that, they’ll have to compete in the Play-In Tournament to get into the NBA playoffs.

Although Phoenix has a very talented roster, former NBA player Jamal Crawford believes there’s a missing piece to the championship puzzle for the Suns, as he thinks they need another point guard, as he told Jim Rome.

“What I would have loved to see them get over the trade deadline, and maybe they can get it through the buyout, is a point guard,” Crawford said. “He doesn’t have to be a starting point guard, but just a guy to organize.”

With the NBA trade deadline coming and going last month, the Suns can no longer make trades and would have to look to current NBA free agents to bring in the point guard that Crawford thinks they need.

However, it is doubtful there’s a game-changer out there for Phoenix as they’ll likely have to play with the roster they currently have and hope that’s enough to get through a highly competitive Western Conference.
