It has been a rough start to the 2023-24 NBA regular season for the New York Knicks, with the storied franchise struggling to play well consistently over the course of the team’s first six games.

Heading into tomorrow’s game at Madison Square Garden against the new-look Los Angeles Clippers, where James Harden is supposed to make his debut with the team, the Knicks are sporting an ugly record of 2-6, with one of the team’s star players really struggling.

Granted, the Knicks have had one of the toughest schedules to start the season, as they’ve faced all projected playoff teams and a couple of title contenders so far, but if this team wants to compete with the best of the best, they’ll need more from Julius Randle.

According to Legion Hoops via Knicks Muse, Randle is shooting the worst field-goal percentage through six games of an NBA season since 1959, which is 27.1% from the field.

Randle is one of the frustrating star players in the league that struggles with consistently each year, even though he’s clearly one of the most talented forwards in the game today.

When Randle is on his game, he’s a legitimate All-Star player in the Eastern Conference and a valuable asset for the Knicks, but when he’s bad like he has been this season, he can really hurt New York and its chances to compete with the best teams in the conference.

Fortunately, it’s early in the season, and Randle has a lot of time to turn things around, but if it keeps heading in this direction, New York could look to move him before February’s NBA trade deadline.
