In 2023, three things seem certain.

Death, taxes, and controversy surrounding the Philadelphia Eagles‘ “tush push.”

This play has been reviewed and analyzed by many within the football industry, and many organizations around the league tried to abolish this play in the offseason.

While it has been criticized by many, the Eagles continue to run with this play.

It worked several times in their Sunday Night Football victory over the Miami Dolphins, which included a Jalen Hurts rushing touchdown.

After this game, Nick Sirianni had a clear message to the rest of the league, according to Dov Kleiman.

“Don’t ban this play,” Sirianni said, adding, “If everybody could do it, everybody would do it.”

The Dolphins had no answer for this play, which seems to be a common theme across the NFL.

Despite teams knowing that the Eagles are going to attempt this play every game, they have not been able to stop it.

Other teams try quarterback sneaks hoping to emulate the Eagles’ success in short yardage.

While they have found some success, no team has replicated their success rate of over 90%.

One thing the Eagles have to their advantage is Hurts, who can squat over 600 pounds.

This gives him a marked advantage over his competitors, having a strong, driving force behind him that allows Hurts to push even harder in these situations.

Will the NFL end up responding to the outcry over this play, rendering it illegal for in-game use?

Until they say otherwise, the Eagles are content to keep running this play.
