Rachel Nichols Says 1 NBA Team’s Season Is An ‘Embarrassment’

The Phoenix Suns escaped Mile High with a big win.

They struggled to get past the Jamar Murray-less Denver Nuggets, but were eventually able to get the job done.

They’re now No. 7 in the Western Conference, sitting on a 43-30 record.

And while that should be good enough for most teams, the Suns are no ordinary team.

That’s why NBA analyst Rachel Nichols called their season an absolute embarrassment.

Talking on Undisputed, the former ESPN pundit claimed that the fact that they gave up on Chris Paul and didn’t add a traditional point guard is one of the reasons why they’ve struggled so much to close out games.

She adds that even though Devin Booker has done a solid job as their de facto point guard, he’s not a traditional playmaker or shot-creator who could naturally run the offense for them.

On top of that, she called out the new ownership for stepping up and putting together a star-studded roster without thinking of the future or the potential implications it could have for years to come.

Truth be told, a team this talented shouldn’t be No. 7 in the West, even if Bradley Beal missed several games with injuries.

On paper, they were supposed to be in the mix for the No. 1 seed, and most analysts expected them to get back to the NBA Finals.

And while that could still can, they don’t look like a championship-caliber team at this moment, and they’re definitely not built to get past the Nuggets in a seven-game series.
