The NBA has always had issues with players and coaches disagreeing with referees but things have been escalating lately.

On Monday night, Detroit Pistons head coach Monty Williams was livid after game officials didn’t call a foul in the final seconds of a game against the New York Knicks.

Shannon Sharpe is now urging NBA Commissioner Adam Silver to do something about missed calls and the way certain people are losing faith in the refs.

“Adam Silver, you gotta get this right,” he said on “First Take,” before adding that there are conspiracies and questions about the actions of the referees and that the repeated replays of possible fouls are only making matters worse and leading to declining trust in the league.

“The fans have got to believe what they’re seeing is on the up and up,” Sharpe said.

Williams and legions of Pistons fans were furious after Monday night’s game.

The Pistons were clinging to a one-point lead with just ten seconds left when Ausar Thompson was able to steal the ball away from the Knicks.

That’s when things got messy as Knicks guard Donte DiVincenzo dove for the ball and collided with Thompson, freeing the ball which was then acquired by Jalen Brunson.

But no foul was called and Josh Hart eventually produced a layup that won the game for the Knicks.

Declaring it the “worst call of the season,” Williams stormed out of his press conference after demanding that the league do something to address missed calls like this.

Things were made even worse on Tuesday morning, as the crew chief said the foul should have been called on DiVincenzo.

This is an issue that will never fully go away but Sharpe and others believe that the NBA has to do more to ease the anger and fear of fans, coaches, and players.

If they do not trust the process then the league could be in very bad shape.
