The New York Yankees are going through a rough couple of weeks in the injury department, most notably with Cy Young winner Gerrit Cole being shut down for up to two months and former MVP Aaron Judge nursing an abdominal injury.

There hasn’t been much clarity so far on what Judge is dealing with and when he’ll return, and after the latest update from manager Aaron Boone, fans know even less than they did before.

According to Boone, via insider Bryan Hoch, Judge did his batting practice work indoors this weekend, and when asked about Judge’s return, Boone said: “I’m not going to predict anymore. I’m not worried about it. We’ll see.”

That sounds like a response from a guy who is already sick of answering questions like this, and the season hasn’t even started yet.

Nevertheless, the Yankees don’t appear too concerned about their star just yet, as sometimes no news is good news in these situations.

It’s positive that Judge has started swinging again, so his status for Opening Day shouldn’t be in doubt just yet.

Judge himself recently said there’s no rush in getting back on the field and that he isn’t worried about being ready for the first game, so fans at this point simply have to take his word for it.

The injury is a concern because abdominal injuries are related to oblique injuries, which can put players out of action for a good 6-8 weeks.

He’ll need to be healthy this year, as he’s now the full-time center fielder following the arrivals of Alex Verdugo and Juan Soto.
